Dell Latitude E6400
Review: Overall a great performer for the workplace. Strong sturdy chassis to withstand the bumps and bruises of an average corporate laptop. The Dell E6400 fits nicely into the business class, using an Intel Core2 Duo Processor for any number crunching. While the new design is nothing spectacular, the E6400 makes a great workhorse, and is easy to look at. If you want to spice up your laptop, Dell does offer the Latitude E6400 in Regal Red or Regatta Blue. The latop color preferred by the reviewer, was the Black, brushed metal finish.
The new sturdy hinge design that has been seen across the Dell laptop line this year, has been included on the Latitude E6400. The hinge is sturdy, and easily manages the 14 inch LCD, and the Integrated Webcam. Another feature consistent across all the Dell laptops this season. An added bonus for the corporate set is the integrated fingerprint reader. Safe security option for mobile users.
Backed by 2GB of RAM, the Latitude E6400 could easily handle music and vids while managing a large QuickBooks account. Dell does allow buyers to upgrade the memory to 8GB or RAM.
The Dell Latitude E6400 tested came with the Intel HD graphics. This integrated graphics option managed to hold its own under intense graphic situations. We would not consider the E6400 the best option for a gaming laptop, however Dell allows buyers to upgrade to a NVidia Quadro, if you need it. At low resolutions, the integrated graphics option on the E6400 performed well with DVD playback and onine video viewing.
The standard wireless 802.11 b/g that ships with the Latitude E6400 performed well under normal conditions. The performance was neither better or worse than was expected. If wireless performance is very important, the upgrade to a more powerful wireless option will be worth the investment. The Latitude E6400 supports wireless USB and WiMAX. Mobile Broadband subscribers can include this option during your laptop purchase.
