Dell Studio 1735 Specs

Review the Dell Studio 1735? No Problem. The new Dell 1735 is the AMD equivalent to the Studio 17. We have taken a keen eye to the new dell Studio 1735, I would have to say this would make a great gift laptop for the holiday. The black finish adds to the allure of this power packed machine. Clean design, strong hinges, now standard on the Dell Studio, and Dell XPS line of laptops. You can read our review on the Dell Studio 1735 here.

The Studio 1735 is billed as a multimedia laptop which can be easily upgraded to a desktop replacement. This in now way downplays the portability of this sleek new machine from the fine folks at Dell. Whether you get the standard 6 cell or you upgrade to the 9 cell battery, either way, you can easily get an entire movie, and a few Videos from one charge, of course a little more with the 9 cell battery.

Under the hood, the base model comes with Duo Core Technology, albeit Pentium, the power and realiabiltiy of Intel shine through. On the average it will cost a mere $50 to upgrade to latest greatest Intel product Core2 Duo, of which there are several more options of processor speeds, each increment costing on the average $100 or more until you max out at 2.53 GHz with the IntelCore 2 Duo T9400 with front side bus speeds of 1066MHz compared to the 800MHz bus speed of the $50 upgrade. If you plan to open a lot of memory heavy applications, or play high quality movies using the HDMI output to your home entertainment system, you may consider upgrading the processor to whatever your budget can stand.

The 17inch glossy wide screen, which for a fee, can also be upgraded to maximize your resolution at 1920 x 1200. Dell generously offers 2 GB of memory standard, enough to handle Vista much like 128MB handles Windows XP. My recommendation is to upgrade to the 4GB of RAM, it is well worth it.

The Hard Drive options are probably the best on the market right now. The standard 160Gigabyte SATA Hard Drive is more than sufficient. Developers, and video editors may opt to shell out the extra $300 for the dual hard drive rig, which gives you a total of 640GB of storgage. There are in between options that are available, 250GB for $25 more for example. Depending on your budget, or your needs, there is a suitable hard drive option for you.
