The New IdeaPad S10e dubbed e for education will feature a new instant on application from Slashtop.
The new application is a Linux Operating System embedded in the laptop motherboard. The laptop will boot to this operating system, which will in turn provide users with further options.
According to "Slashtop", the (pre) operating system takes 3 to 5 seconds to load. At this point users can decide to either go straight to the internet, an additional 10 seconds, or continue to load the Windows operating system. We will let your own personal experience set the tone for that operation.
According to the Lenovo web site, students will be able to check email, browse the web, video conference, view photos,or play music, all without booting into the operating system.
The only disappointment in this is that existing s10 owners will not be able to add this new offering, and s10 models will not be upgraded. Instead, customers now have an additional S10e to choose from. IdeaPad S10-s lowest price, from the Lenovo website, was $399.
