A new Linux based Operating System called "Cloud" was released at the Netbook World Summit held in Paris, this past Monday, December 1, 2008. The new Cloud OS is being dubbed as a "Browser based" Operating System.
The Cloud OS is very similar to the QuickStart application that Lenovo offers with its Netbook offering the IdeaPad S10e(Full Specs and Review). Much like QuickStart, Cloud operates, independently of Windows operating system, but provides a instant boot into windows, with the click of a button.
The basic concept is simple. Netbook users can boot to the Cloud faster than it takes to boot to windows. Users then use the browser to navigate through the Cloud OS, or navigate the internet. There are several icons that remain present for the user to choose from, whether its checking email, or other tasks. As mentioned earlier, users also have the option to click and boot into thier favorite flavor of Windows.
