Sony Vaio NR220E Laptop Review

The Sony Vaio NR220E is a neat 15.4 inch laptop suitable for anyone who needs a reliable, stylish computer. The Sony Vaio NR comes in three colors, brown, white, and silver, and makes a great laptop for students and business people. The NR 220E is the most affordable laptop from the folks at Sony. Although it is at the lower end, price wise, it packs plenty of great specs, and features.

The design of the Sony Vaoi NR220E is very appealing, and Sony did not sacrifice quality for cosmetics. The plastic chassis was firm and sturdy, and feels very durable. After a day or two of handling the Sony NR200e, this reviewer could tell that even thought the plastic chassis was cute and attractive, it was well reinforced. The solid hinges alleviated the need for a latch on the laptop lid. The hinges held up the lid nicely without any give.

The Sony Vaio NR220 uses the Intel Dual Core T2330(1.6GHz), in combination with the Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator, for great graphics, while using less power. Even though Sony claims a 4 to 7 hour battery life, during the process of this review, the average laptop battery life of the Sony Vaio was around 3 hours. Adjusting the screen brightness, and maybe turning off the wireless might squeeze some more time out of the Sony Vaio NR 220E. We have seen some reviews of this product mention the "wiggle" room with the Sony Battery. The model we reviewed did not have the same problem.

Intel delivers plenty of processing power for the average user. Buyers can always upgrade during the purchase process. Graphics enthusiasts may wish to also upgrade the graphics processor for better performance. The Intel Graphics Accelerator will use some of the 1GB System RAM. The Sony Vaio NR220E we review here came equipped with a 160GB Hard Drive, 1 GB or RAM (maximum memory 4GB) , and was loaded with Windows Vista Home Premium. Vista by itself takes up a good bit of system RAM as well, making it well worth your while to upgrade the RAM, and acehieve much better performance.

The WXGA glossy screen on the Sony Vaio NR220E comes with a max resolution of 1280 x 800, and deliver clean, crisp images. The Sony Vaio we reviewed tested well on DVD playback as well as online video streams, and standard flash videos.

Overall we would rate the Sony Vaio NR220E a 4 at the very least. The NR220E performed well for the most part. Business Professionals on the go, Students around campus, would all enjoy the computing power delievered by the Sony Vaio NR220E.
