Toshiba released the Satellite A215 Series last year, using AMD Turion64 X2 Cpu-s. The large 15.4" screen, and large storage capacity make it an ideal candidate for the multimedia notebook category.
Weighing in at just over 6 pounds, the Satellite A215 is not typically on the move every day. Out of context, a 6 pound notebook may not seem overweight, try standing in line at security clearance at any major airport, several times a week.
Many of the reviewers of this model were captivated by the WXGA 1280 x 800 resolution. The high resolution screen on the Satellite A215 are another great factor that qualifies itself as a true multimedia notebook. Great video playback, great web page display, very bright screen.
One of the downsides to the hard drive choice with this model, is the occasional delay during hard drive intense tasks. However, upgrade the hard drive, and these issues will go away. The hard drive is easily accessible from the underside of the notebook.
The optical drive included is a Pioneer DVR with double layer support and LabelFlash as well. Labelflash Optical Drives use the laser to inscribe images on the human side of the disc. Pretty cool feature for a laptop.
