The Lenovo IdeaPad S10e is lenovo's entry into the mini-laptop or netbook market. Competitively priced around the $400 mark, the Lenovo mini laptop is available in three color choices, red, black, and white. The Lenovo website mentions more colors being available closer to Christmas.
The standard Lenovo mini laptop configurtation included the energy efficient Intel Atom Processor (1.6GHz Intel Atom processor). Customers can choose between two hard drive options. The 5400 RPM 160 GB Western Digital Hard Drive has proven acrooss the board to have better performance results than the solid state hard drive option.
The combination of the Intel Atom Processor and 1 GB RAM, allowed the IdeaPad S10e to handle multimedia tasks more than effeciently. Intel provides the Graphics, Intel GMA945 Express, with 64MB or Graphics Memory.
The preloaded software can be overlooked. Many reviewers seem to agree that Norton 2008 Antivirus software may be a bit too heavy for the Lenovo mini. Lenovo did strike a cord with consumers when they included CyberLink's One Key. As the S10e does not include any recovery software, customers can use the OneKey app to create a backup image of their brand new system, or any time along the way, to allow for custom images of the current installation to be saved, preferrably to an external hard drive. Customers can then use this image to restore their computer in the event of a failure.
Lenovo includes S10’s 802.11b/g Wi-Fi card for wireless connectivity. The keyboard is only 85% of a full size keyboard and could use some improvement in key responsiveness.
